A Message from Our Founder - Sandy Becker
I
have had the pleasure of working
with and learning from young
children since 1982. I began as
a student teacher in high school
working with a group of
preschool aged children in the
campus classroom, student
teaching in two second grade
classrooms in an elementary
school and experiencing a 10
week internship student teaching
a first grade class of hearing
impaired children at a state
school in central New York which
was by far my favorite
experience. I have always loved
teaching. I received my AAS in
Early Childhood Education and
have taught preschool in several
locations up & down the east
coast for many years. Through my
years of experiences I have
formulated my idea of high
quality programming for young
children from seeing some really
great programs but more
importantly from experiencing
some not so great programs. It
is through these stretching and
growing periods of your life you
are able to move forward with
accurateness, focus, and clear
vision. My vision has always
been to create a school where
peace, quality and extended
family exist. Montessori is that
peace and quality, Briarwood is
that extended family.
